Is it morally right to spend a lot of money on pets, rather than helping people in need?

As a person who does not raise any pets, I cannot agree to spend a lot of money on pets. Raising a pet costs you as much as you raise your baby or even more.Thinking about people who suffer or actually lose their lives due to the lack of food, water, poor sanitation or basic medicine, spending any extravagant sum of money on pets such as feeding expensive foods, taking them to so called a dog hotel for their vacation, or having a luxurious funeral sounds unreasonable and not understandable. It is true that thousands of babies and kids are dying everyday in the other side of glove like in African countries due to no a few spoons of milk. Even a penny you spend on decorating your pet can save those kids. However, animal lovers refute that pets are a part of their families.It is just like taking care of someone from their own families who they love. Although it is extremely subjective to take a stand, I think unnecessary expenditure on puppy clothes, or dog accessories can't be justified.
