I am not sure how the situation in other countries is different from Korea, however, the law of adultery has been introduced to primarily protect women in Korea. The adultery in Korea was legislated in 1953 when women typically did not have an economic power and heavily relied on their husbands. Under the influence of Confucianism, men took a role of financially supporting and leading a family just like the CEO of the company. As men had more power than women, they tended to abuse their power to have extra-marital affairs. At that time, it was not even perceived by the public as a serious wrongdoing. Such a social phenomenon brought in the necessity for the government to involve in the personal matter of love in the aiming of protecting the victims who were mostly women. There have been a lots of debates and controversial in Korea whether the law breaches the individual’s sexual rights and privacy, and thereby violates the Constitution. Now, it will be a civil charge, not a criminal one.

A terrific Friday Sir [이름]!

I admire you for always making it to a point to elaborate your ideas not only in class, but also in writing.

You composed long and meaningful sentences. Great!

Anyway, you are right. The women didn\'t have enough power to fight for their right.

Even here in the Philippines, that is also an issue.

Let us share more ideas in class.
Enjoy the rest of the day.
