It is very hard to kick off a gambling. It is like a drug which is powerful in addition. People have a momentum to keep what they do. Someone who gets up early in the morning can't change his life style at once. of course another who always eat five meals a day can't endure the feeling of hunger when he/she skip even an one time. Many people have a tendancy when they are doing something. which is becomming a pattern for someone. so that may be called "habit". Habit is simple but very hard to change as well as to make. Even Changing habit is very hard, Stop gambling is more hard to halt. the person addicted is already know the thrill of gambling and the pleasure of the winning. That's the reason why many addictior can't stop the gamble. the fantasy of winning a game is holding their hand so they can't go other place.
