Job and identity.

In the past, there was no doubt that one\'s profession tells a lot about who he or she is as people put a significant commitment of time and energy on what they did for living. It was common to associate having a job with self-realization, which seems not to be true in the comtemporary perspective. While some people still value their careers very much, there are an increasing number of people who consider work as a mere means of earn money with which they are able to do other self-fulfilling activities during their off-time. In this standpoint, the time after finishing work holds much more significance than the time spent on working in terms of what defines oneself. Considering the temporary nature of the current job market, it is absolutely understandable for people to find not work-related things to stick to. Otherwise, their sense of identity would have altered as many times as they changed their workplaces. In doing so, a job plays a less important role than it did back in the days.
