I think It is not important for person who have pets to spend money. They regards animals as a family.
The cost for pets will be different from individual ecomic condition. I saw the news that the owner left a fortune for owner`s pets. when i consider it, The pet got over the meaning of animals.
To take care of them, most people allote time for the pets although they are busy to live.
I think the reason why they spend time and money on the pets, this is because the pets make them more happy.
To be specific, the person are depressed, the pets always greet them. It help them to get rid of depressed feeling.
In this process, the relationship between pets and person become entrenched in relations.
