Re:Turn - Ash Wednesday Sermon 1
학생이 쓴 원문
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. We are here in the sanctuary to have Ash Wednesday worship service at the moment. And today is the beginning of Lent. The word ‘Lent’ is derived from the Latin word meaning “fortieth.” The Lenten season is the season of forty days. Why Lent is forty days? Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness prior to beginning his ministry. He was in prayer and fasting for 40 days and nights. We, Christians, also spend 40 days preparing for Jesus\' resurrection. Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, we, Christians, participate in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. At the end of Lent, we will go through the passion and death of Jesus Christ. For forty days, our reflection and observation of our journey to Easter is Jesus’ passion and death. We may all agree that we don’t want to talk about pain, suffering, or death in our daily lives. We just want to talk about fun bright spots or happiness.
