Reading skill and academic performance.

Children who started reading early in terms of age are more likely to outperform those who didn\'t in school. This is because most of the school tasks given to them are text-based which require a certain level of literacy. Students should be able to read and write in order to cover textbooks, assignments, and exams otherwise they would lose their interest in studying. Moreover, though their is no clear evidence that proves the causal relationship between reading skill and academic performance, one can easily presume that people who have read much of written materials from the early stage of their lives would be more knowledgable than those haven\'t. In this regard, chlidren with an advanced reading capability are likely to be familiar with the educational setting, thereby standing out in school. However, considering academic performance is not determined solely by how early s/he started reading, there should be more studies that reveal the variables which affect a person\'s intelligence.
