Reasons for students' academic failure in college

Talking about the cases in Korea, I would like to point out a few factors that cause college students to fail in the academic achievement. First of all, students tend to choose college over major because which college they enter and graduate from is highly regarded and it is of critical importance for their entire life. Their career path like promotion is largely influenced by their academic background, especially college they graduate from. Students just want to enter the first class college regardless of major they are interested in so they might simply give up when they lose their interest in the subject they study. The second reason is that they might have found something interesting that they like to be immersed in other than studying. Many famous celebrities were dropped out of college due to the reason. Thirdly, financial difficulties could make them suspend their studying due to high tuition cost or take away their studying time because they have to do part time works.
