I served for student’s council when I was in university. Because of the mistake that ex-council member had made, we had to compensate 400 dollars for penalty. This made us difficult to use enough money to prepare for other events. There, I suggested council members to combine two events into one, so that we can reduce budget needed to borrow two places for each event. The idea worked well, and we were able to save about 350 dollars by renting only one restaurant for the event. Furthermore, students were more satisfied with the combined event because they could enjoy plentiful content at once.
I also have experience of enhancing data analysis. While I was interning in Kepco-enc, I found out that my co-workers have difficulty when they analyze the list of applicants for selecting deserver. My team had to list not only the items that applicants wanted to supply but also their categories and quality, applicants’ name and so on. Since there was too much data that we had to deal with, it was hard to find and input information about each item into the Excel document we used for managing in short time without any error. So I made two other basic documents. One was about the information about items, and the other was about the applicants. And using those two documents and some functions that I learned, I made it able for the information about items and applicants to be shown automatically if I only put the name of items and applicants in the managing document. This shortened the time and reduced the error when listing information of applicants. Likewise, I always be dedicated to projects and find a way to deal with the problem.
Later, I worked on a project with a huge amount of supplier data. To reduce errors and speed things up, I built a simple Excel system that linked item and applicant information automatically. Both experiences taught me how to balance costs with stakeholder needs and streamline processes - skills I believe are directly relevant to procurement in a government agency.
Here\'s a longer version, but still sounds natural and conversational, albeit longer:
I’d describe myself as someone who enjoys finding practical solutions, especially when resources are limited. Back in university, I was on the student council and we had to deal with a $400 budget penalty from a previous oversight. Instead of cutting programs, I suggested combining two separate events into one. That saved us about $350 and actually made students happier because they got a richer program in a single event.
Later, I worked on a project where my team had to manage a huge amount of supplier data. The process was slow and prone to mistakes, so I built a simple system in Excel that linked item and applicant information automatically. It cut down the time we spent and reduced errors significantly. Those experiences showed me that I’m at my best when I’m streamlining processes and balancing costs with stakeholder needs. That’s why I’m excited about procurement in a government agency, it’s a role where efficiency and accountability really matter, and I enjoy contributing in that way.
