I think that age discrimination is illegal and prohibited in the workplace almost in all of the countries. Most companies adopt a bylaw that guarantees an equal opportunity and fair treatment regardless of gender, race or age. However, in reality, companies do take employee’s age into consideration when they hire a new employee or promote. Even when laying off employees, employee’s age is the primary factor to be considered regardless of their performance or competency. No matter how valuable contribution you’ve made for the society, if you get older, you are being pushed out of society, especially in the job market. People’s life expectancy is getting increased, but you are forced to leave the workplace early without enough retirement pension. This is becoming a serious social problem that there is no place for silver people and they are suffering financially even after retirement. We all have to work together to tackle the issue and to bring in an effective solution to the issue
