Every fundraising event requires high level of accountability. This is because it results in donations to the people most needed. I believe celebrity driven awareness events require high standard of publicity effort which Korea has lacked. Celebrity driven awareness may not result in large amounts of donation but in most cases, it attracts attention from public. Accordingly, I believe event themes must align with what they want to deliver. In case of W Korea, they wish to elevate awareness over breast cancer. According to the Breast Cancer Foundation, the breast cancer event originated back in 1991 by Charlotte Haley who handed out peach-colored ribbons for breast cancer awareness. However, Korea lacked to meet underlying themes and transformed events into celebrities promoting their brands. Until now many Koreans thought of the W Korea event as one of many celebrities driven promotional events which make the complete failure.
