Various governments are coming up with subsidy programs targeting whole population. This is because of the difficulties of narrowing down residents based on needs and economic difficulties. Recently United State government proposed sending US$2000 to Americans funded by tariff. Universal subsidies have benefit of maximizing effectiveness by economies of scales. This can also decrease cost of administrative procedures because there are no criteria that people need to meet. However, this can have disadvantages in reducing the amount of monetary support given to the people in need. Now many countries are experiencing K-shape economy. The wealthy fare better due to rising stock prices and interest rate but the poor struggles due to rising inflation and interest rate. Since sources of revenue are limited, distributing the money to everyone will decrease the support for those who really need it. Accordingly, eligibility of monthly subsidies must be based by certain criteria.
