I agree with the statement that a material success in life can be correlated with one's cognitive ability as successful people tend to be intellectually competent. However, success is one of the measurable components to assess the intellectual capability of mankind. One should also take into consideration that estimating human intelligence, based only on one's success, will be a vast generalization skewing the result of what it should be a multivariable analysis. For example, a success can be achieved not by one's intellect but by efforts, aspirations, timing, inheritance, or even pure luck. IQ can only tell us one's mathematical and linguistic capacity, nothing more. There are even those who claim that grit is a much more essential component of success as those who have it are more likely to be resilient to their failure. To sum up, I agree that there is a positive relationship between success and IQ but success is only one measurement of human intelligence, among many others.
