Hello Melissa! Thank you for your composition. I hope that I was able to answer your questions. Just feel free to ask me if you have further questions. Have a great day!
~t. KELLY~
Hi Teacher Kelly. I have some questions about grammar.
First, The city council will not grant approval for construction in cases where damage to the environment will be particularly severe.
>> First, The city council will not grant an approval for construction in cases where damage to the environment will be particularly severe.
*** In this case, where refers \"to what situation, circumstance\". It shows where the plan/situation leads.
>> But, I don\'t know why \'where\' is inserted to this sentence.
I think \"the city council will not grant approval for construction in cases damage to the environment will be particularly severe.\" is a correct sentence.
>> I think \"the city council will not an grant approval for construction in case damage to the environment will be particularly severe.\" is a correct sentence.
I\'m very confused.
>> Correct.
If upper sentence (which use the word \'where\') is right, could you explain me?
Second, The stock broker told the investors about a safe investment plan that would secure their financial future.
>> Correct.
>> The word about in this sentence means of/concerning.
But, I don\'t know why the \'about\' is inserted to this sentence.
>>
But, I don\'t know why the word \'about\' is inserted to this sentence.
I think \"The stock broker told the investors a safe investment plan that would secure their financial future.\"is a correct sentence.
>> Correct.
Because the verb \'tell\' can have two objects. I\'m very confused.
Third, The restaurant offers a diverse menu that features a variety of European dishes.
>> Correct.
*** Some nouns can be both countable and uncountable. For example, we say \"coffee\" meaning the product, but we say \"a coffee\" when asking for one cup of coffee.
>> Correct.
I think \"The restaurant offers diverse menu that features a variety of European dishes.\" is a correct sentence.
Because, diverse menu is a \'plural noun\'. So, I think \"a\" can\'t be inserted to this sentence.
I\'m very confused...teacher!
>> Correct.
Please explain me more detail. If upper sentence is right, would you explain me the reason??
>> Please explain to me more in detail. If the upper sentence is right, would you explain to me the reason??
Good night!:)
>> Correct.
