In the reading passage that there are many arguments for drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to gain access to its sizeable oil reserves. However, the professor casts doubt on the points made in the reading passage with several reasons. First of all, the speaker says that, animals just can be moved to another area is not true. For example, porcupine caribous make the longest migration of all land mammals. And they also give birth in the 1002 area, so newborns vulnerable to predation. Thus the speaker contradicts the rationale presented int he reading passage. that 1002 area animals can be relocated. Another point, the lecturer makes is that drilling in the arctic is not the best deal the state can get. To be specific, fracking called shale is controversial. As a result, adding lot of jobs to Alaska would be better than giving Alaskans 900 dollars a year. Therefore the lecturer completely refutes the claim made in the reading passage that oil located in the ANWR would reduce the import costs of foreign sources. Lastly, the professor states that. 11 billion barrels of oil in Alaska is just a guess. This is because reserves in the us may be 29 billion barrels but the estimated oil reserves are 120 billion barrels. therefore, the professor counters the argument mentioned in the reading passage that amount of oil has been estimated in Alaska.
