Although money plays a primary role to satisfy and retain employees, it is not an only factor, neither the best way to motivate employees. Based on my experience, unless you are paid way below than the industry average, you can be passionate about what you are doing if you have a good relationship with your colleagues and boss. In addition, if you feel a sense of accomplishment and growing with your company, you can still be motivated regardless of money. If you are paid a significant amount of money compared with your friends, but not satisfied with your job, you can still be demotivated and can quit the job. There are no less or even more effective motivators than three factors: praising employees, leadership attention, and a change to lead projects or task forces. We need to interact regularly with our employees and calling attention to outstanding work. Let them give a chance to lead projects. Find ways to show top talent that they are important to the company.
