Although l have not experienced a birthday party of old fashion, I heard from my parents there was a red bean rice cake instead of western cake.
And people used to congratulate especially who got age 60, because lifetime of 60 years was long live at that time.
However, there is a tendency to eliminate that special party these days as life time is getting longer and now 60 years old is not special one anymore.
