To be succesful, is "family background" important?

I think the most important thing to becoming succesful is not "family background" but "strong will" some people insist that if someone have the good "family background", he can do what he wants to do easily. However I think he CANNOT DO! Because If someone has good family background, he will always turn to his family like a baby when some problems break out. Even though it is trivial and small problem, he do not have the will to solve the problem. Because his good family background gets the problem to be solved instead of him. So he cannot become the independent man and he cannot do what he wants to do by himself.
