Hi there!

 

You were right when you said that these two modal verbs don\'t have a lot of difference.

And I know that they could really confuse people. They can be used interchangeably in the present tense, except that must suggests that it is the speaker who has decided that something is necessary, whereas have to suggests that somebody else has imposed the decision. Have to possesses past and future forms as for must, it doesn\'t.
