In korea, we usually eat rice cake soup (떡국) on New year’s day. And as they say, “you get as old as a bowl of rice cake soup.”
When i was young, I had a fight with my friends over who would ear more rice cake soup. So winner was able to grow up.

Also it is easily make, even if it is not new year’s day ,i usually eat it.
