What are some things people can do to eliminate discrimination and prejudice?

There is a saying, 'Don't judge a book by its cover.' It means that people should not be defined by their appearance, colors, nation, or whatever that hinders from finding the real person itself. However, we still face with discrimination and prejudice quite often. To bring my story up, when I said "I am from Korea", the first reply from some of westerners was "Are you from North?"I could bear with this question at the first few time but it gradually became annoying. I understand that they won't be able to distinguish in a way of I can as I cannot tell the differences between westerners from different countries . But mostly it is because of the information they consume. Media keeps saying about North Korea which is usually being exaggerated and there is less chance to be exposed to the information about Korea.
