What are the common barriers to effective communication?

There are some reasons that interrupt effective communication like noise, unstable internet or phone situation, not concentrating, lack of language ability, and so on. Personally, lack of language ability is the biggest problem. I often have problems that can only be solved fastly by talking to Canadians in English. I feel in trouble whenever I go through the situation. I prepare the script before calling so I can deliver what I want to tell but I can’t understand most of what the other person is saying. I prefer sending an email to talking on the phone because of these reasons.
Next, I’m sometimes in the middle of the unstable internet. I usually have a call and a voice call by Kakaotalk but the problem sometimes makes uncomfortable situations. We sometimes can’t hear another’s voice and can’t look at each other’s faces.
