When I worked in the Korean government as a government officer, there were some strict office policies about the working hours, confidentiality, attitude for the people and the use of office supplies etc., but fortunately there was not the policy on the uniform. If we violate the office policies, some panaltis are imposed depending on its degree. There were many kinds of panaties from " simple caution' to "fire". So, we tried not to violate the office policies during working days. On the other hands, when I worked in Japan, there were only a few office policies such as working hours, the number of holidays a year, the participation in regular meeting every week. As you see, most of office polices in Japan general and trivial things. Therefore, I think the office policies in Japan were more flexible than those in Korea.
