When I took a history class, I heard that in chosun dynasty almost all people married person by mother or father's choice. They couldn't know spouse's name, face and even personality. As this tradition has come down to these day, our society has a kind of marriage. It is called as sun(선). Many korea drama show this kind of marriage but it is especially common to rich people. The purpose is to marry a son or a daughter to rich person. In real life, it is common to old people. Maybe young people usually tend to prefer a romantic marriage and old people tend to prefer a arranged marriage. I think knowing spouse in details is very important before marrying someone so if my friend will do the arranged marriage, maybe I would give an advice my friend like "have a more date and take time and marry when you have a conviction about this marriage"
