What do you think soldiers find the most difficult to get used to?

Your freedom will be severely restricted in the military. Your individualism won’t be allowed. There is no freedom at all. Exaggeratedly, there is a saying that you don’t have freedom to dream by yourself or on your own. Even dreaming should be approved and controlled by the authoritarian. You cannot get out of the military compound without a special approval. You cannot call, neither see your girl friend or parents. Living with other people will be difficult and stressful as well. There is no space or time only for you. You have to get up at the same time, to eat together, to get a drill, and to sleep at the same time. You should act as a part of a clock. It was quite usual for the Korean army that as many as 10 to 20 soldiers live together in the same room (now it might have changed, but it was when I served in the military about 20 years ago). Even in the barrack, you have to follow the rank hierarchy and you cannot lie down without a permission.
