In order to make you feel comfortable with strangers, you should open up. Don't be discouraged if you are not able to completely put your anxiety to rest about what people are thinking of you. Put your guard down first and make the other people feel comfortable. When meeting a new person, we often tend to defend ourselves unwittingly not to be viewed as a weak person. We naturally try to boast and want to be highly regarded, which make us look serious around new people. Being honest and real is the key. Don’t waste time pretending that you are someone else to impress people. Be yourself. Don’t be afraid of how other people will perceive you. Next, find a way that you can relate to the person. Be interested. It's amazing how much more interesting other people become when you are putting all your energy into focusing on what they are saying, rather than worrying about what they think of you. Such attitude will make you feel comfortable and get excited to meet new people.
