Christmas is a holiday in Korea, but we do not have any special food. Because Christianity had been a minor religion in Korea and its introduction was just approximately 120 years before, Confucianism and Buddhism has governed our society for more than 1000 years. This fact makes me wonder when and why we started officially celebrating this day. On the internet, there was a history that we were independent from Japan, and then the U.S military administration advisers had ruled, they made Christmas as a Korean holiday. Anyway, we enjoy this special day, even for non-Christians. For young generation, many couples would like to have romantic moment in a fancy restaurant. The others usually spend time with their family. I dare say a special food, at Christmas eve, many fathers buy a cake for their family. However, many children might more hope to receive a Christmas gift that is fantasized by Santa Claus.
