What invention do you think has had the greatest impact on society? How and why?

I think modern communication technology has had the greatest impact on our society, even though there are many other innovative inventions to affect to our society. After all, modern communication technology has made our world connected as one. By internet, most people can expand easily their communication to all over the world. In contrast, in past time, human communication was limited spatially. At that time, people had to walk or run directly to send their messages to others. Therefore, their communication was restricted to the small range, such as family, neighborhood and their town. Also, to get the messages from long distance, people had to wait for a long time. However, in present time, people do not have to wait like that to get the messages from opposite side of earth. Just by clicking, it come to be possible that people get immediately the messages from long distance or send their messages to others in different countries.
