What makes a city great to live in?

Actually, I like the scenery of rural area but I cannot deny that living in a city is better than the countryside. There can be various factors to make a city great to live in. Firstly, the public transportation is convenient in a city. People in a city can utilize diverse public transportations such as a train, a subway, a bus, and a taxi; thus, without a car, people can go anywhere and anytime. On the other hand, in rural area, there are few transportations and they are run rarely for once an hour. It is very inconvenient. Secondly, more facilities are offered in a city including an institute and a department store and these things exist almost everywhere in a city. So, people living in a city can approach these facilities in no time. On the contrary, in rural area, people had difficulty using these facilities because it is difficult to build these facilities in the countryside due to little population. I think that two reasons above can be factors making a city great to live in.
