They look similar however there is difference.
First of all, franchise means the owner for the head office offers his brand name and way to manage to the branches.
Franchise could be branches owned by individual who buy their right to sell to franchisers.
When you say chain, that means expanded business or branches owned by one person.
The chain business is like building up branches owned by one person.
Here\'s the example.
I owned one hotel, I got high monthly revenue every year, so I expanded 2 more hotel whose name are same with head hotel.
Those 2 hotels can be chain because only one person owned them.
If some other people would like to manage their own hotel under the same name with my hotel, It could be franchise hotel.
because I don\'t own their hotel even though they used same name and way to manage.
