In my perspective, the sentence means that everything comes from oneself. Since a person knows the cheating when trying to deceive someone, he cannot successfully complete that without perfect lying from self-deception. In the case of love, most people imagine enthusiastic and true love with others, and however, unfortunately, they are not aware of the importance of loving themselves or self-confidence which allows that the rest will follow. Therefore, hard effort to understand oneself is one of the most significant values, which can make him realise one's own emotions, views, and so on.
