Superstitions do have equally weird and specific origins since they involve supernatural causes. Most of the superstitions are based on the religions. But some are just based on unfortunate coincidences and associations. I think that superstitions have a historical background. Some researchers guess superstitions might be originated 5,000 years ago in ancient Egypt.
