Whst do you do when you do not fully understand someone\'s speech?

Sometimes I encountered to a very embarrassing situation when I was in unfamilliar people and area.
Mostly, If I have no idea about the topic which someone speaks about. I couln\'t figure out the speaker\'s meaning. In that case, I tried to search the information or just did mistakes without realizing.
I would be very sorry to speaker.

It could really be an awkward moment when you want to be able to really try to comprehend one\'s speech but cannot because of pronunciation and other factors affecting your understanding.
The best way is to focus on the speech, get general clues of what the other person is saying, and more importantly, if you really want to accurately want to get details, you need to kindly ask the person to repeat some parts you need to clarify on so that it would be very clear.
