Why are the Olympics always held in rich cities?

Actually few people understand how and why a certain city comes to be chosen to host the Olympic games. It's a decision that considers everything from the candidate city's financial situation to its traditions of Olympic spirit and culture. As an initial process, any city that wants to bid for the Olympic makes a formal proposal to the IOC and the candidate city must respond to a variety of questions from the IOC, such as its motivation for hosting the Olympics, accommodation plans, the available transportations for athletes and spectators, and what venues it intends to use or build for each event. And then the IOC members will review the applications and evaluate by visiting each potential host city for several days. Finally a meeting of the IOC general assembly members is then held and makes the final selection. The process should be fair, however, there were many cases that the IOC members were involved in the bribery scandals or the IOC was accused of putting commercial interests ahead of the world’s unity and peace.
