Why is it hard for some people to apologize?

People find it difficult to apologize for a variety of reasons, most frequently because they want to preserve their ego or self-image or because they are afraid of coming seen as weak. Other factors that may contribute to difficulty apologizing include pride, a need for empowerment, and a fear of vulnerability.
