Why might some people choose to stay in a conflict zone even when they feel fear anxiety?

After US and Israel bombarded Iran and declared a military action, many people fled from Middle Eastern nations. Despite fear and anxiety there are some people who choose to stay. I watched a YouTube video of Korean girl studying in Israel who chose to stay even though round-the-clock bombarding. I believe this trend may be due to two reasons. First, there are many foreigners who are making their livings on the conflict zones. Some are married to nationals. Those people cannot leave homestead behind and flee. Then there is an issue of extended war operation. No one can guarantee when the war will be finished. Even US president cannot give exact date that US troops will finish their military operation in Middle East. Also, there is a possibility that the situation may deteriorate. Since there is a higher possibility that situation can get worse and many individuals choose to live with war. At least, they are getting protected by local government.
