Would you agree that people should go to jail when they abandon their pets?

I agree that people go to jail when they abandon their pets. Nowdays there are a lot of people who raise their pets. The pets are our family. I have watched a TV program about abandoned pets. They are in some center for abondoned pets. But they jusy can stay for 10 days. If their owners don't come there or their new owner don't apprear, they can't be saved from death. There are many pets that can't escape death. I think people who abandon thier pets are same as murderer. So I think they must be punished and go to the jail if they abandon their pets.
