Would you consider the military as a career choice? Why or why not?

It’s is mandatory for Korean men to serve in the military for almost two years. It is not a matter of choice, but a must. Because Korea adopts the drafting system instead of a voluntary problem, it is limited for a man to choose a job in the military although the authorities take a draftee’s academic background, careers, and specialty into account when actually assigning him to a job after the first six-week basic training at the boot camp. There are some particular positions such as mechanics, nurses, drivers, etc. that are officially recruited by the military via advertisement, but they are rare cases. In most cases, you could be assigned to any jobs in the military regardless your personal interest or expertise. So, it is not easy for a man to benefit the time he spent in the military as a career path because his permanent job after discharging from the military has nothing to do with the job he had in the military. But, in other countries like the US, it could be a good choice.

Hi Sir [이름]!Thank you for sending me an essay. A great composition again from you. Keep it up! I think it is really difficult for them. Did you have a difficult time when you were in the military? What was the best lesson you\'ve learned there? Can you talk about it in class.Teacher Nina   It’s is mandatory for Korean men to serve in the military for almost two years. >> Correct!
