I understood this qustion saying you are willing to sacrifice your self to your friends, aquintance,strangers.
Before answering to the question, it is nessesary to discuss of the meaning of sacrifice.
There are heroic images of sacrifice. Usually those images stem from sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, or sacrifices of matyers. Those have been a standard of sacrifice. Also have given some burden to mankind. I'm not underestimating the great love and holiness of their sacrifice. People imitating their sacrifice without love but burden have caused a lot of problems to world.
I rather choose this proverb to explain sacrifice.
The sacrifice which causes sorrow to the doer of the sacrifice is no sacrifice. Real sacrifice lightens the mind of the doer and gives him a sense of peace and joy. The Buddha gave up the pleasures of life because they had become painful to him. Mahatma Gandhi.
Working as a doctor, I give some helps also unintended harm somehow.
I just give what can I give w/o burden.
